Iran Medals at Paralympics by the End of Day Seven
WANA (Sep 05) – By the end of the seventh day of the 2024 Paris Paralympic Games, Iran’s Paralympic team achieved 14 medals.
On the sixth day of the competition, Iranian para-athlete Hajar Safarzadeh made history by winning the silver medal in the women’s 400-meter T12 race with a time of 55:39. She became the first female Iranian runner to win a medal in the history of the Paralympic Games.
On the seventh day, Saeid Afrooz, competing in the F34 javelin throw, broke both the world and Paralympic records twice with throws of 40.67 meters and 41.16 meters. His outstanding performance earned him the gold medal and the title of Paralympic champion.
In para Archery, Mohammadreza Arab Ameri, participating in his first Paralympic Games, advanced to the top four after defeating opponents from Malaysia, Azerbaijan, and Turkey. However, he lost to an Indian competitor in the semifinals, missing the chance to reach the final.
Arab Ameri, who had previously won a gold medal at the Hangzhou Asian Para Games, faced Taimon Smith of Australia in the bronze medal match. In a dominant performance, he defeated Smith 6-0 to secure the prestigious Paralympic bronze medal.
