A Golden Night for Iran’s Paralympic team
WANA (Sep 07) – By the end of the eighth and ninth days of the 2024 Paris Paralympic Games, the Iranian Paralympic team secured a total of 22 medals.
On the eighth day, Iranian athletes competed in five sports: para archery, para-athletics, para powerlifting, sitting volleyball, and para judo.
They earned 3 silver medals and 2 bronze medals. Hassan Bajoulvand won silver in discus throw, Seyed Meysam Bani Taba secured silver in para judo, and Mohsen Bakhtiar took bronze in para powerlifting.
Additionally, in para athletics, Ali Pirouj won silver in javelin, and Ali Asghar Javanmardi claimed bronze in shot put.
The ninth day was a standout for the Iranian team. The sitting volleyball team, widely expected to win gold from the start, defeated their rival Bosnia and claimed the gold medal.
In para powerlifting, Rouhollah Rostami not only won gold but also set new Paralympic and world records with an extraordinary performance.
Meanwhile, Yasin Khosravi in shot put added to Iran’s triumphant night at Stade de France by securing the sixth gold medal for the team.
