WANA (Sep 08) – The Iranian Ambassador to Iraq, Mohammad Kazem Ale Sadeq, stated that “Operation True Promise 1” was part of a show of strength. He emphasized that the next phase, Operation True Promise 2, will demonstrate actual power and ensure that Iran’s response will be decisive with God’s permission.

In an interview with an Iraqi media outlet, Mohammad Kazem Ale Sadeq, the Iranian Ambassador to Iraq, provided insights into various regional and bilateral matters, emphasizing Iran’s stance on several key issues.

Ale Sadeq discussed the situation of separatist groups in Erbil and Sulaymaniyah, noting that refugee camps are available for these groups, allowing them to reside without engaging in terrorism against Iran. He reassured that individuals not involved in violent acts are welcome to return to Iran, while others seeking to relocate can receive consular support from Iran.

Addressing the recent assassination of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh, Ale Sadeq underscored that Iran’s response will be more significant than previous actions, with a strategic and impactful approach to be executed at a suitable time and place.

Regarding Iranian resistance groups, Ale Sadeq emphasized their independence, stating that Iran does not require intermediaries or representatives. He also praised the Iraqi people for their warm hospitality during the Arbaeen pilgrimage, highlighting the deep-rooted ties between the two nations.

Ale Sadeq criticized the United States for its support of Israel, accusing it of playing a detrimental role in the region and suppressing human rights. He noted that Iran maintains a firm stance in supporting Gaza and Hezbollah despite pressure from the UK to withdraw support.

In discussing preparations for President Pezeshkian’s upcoming visit to Iraq, Ale Sadeq stressed the importance of this visit in strengthening diplomatic relations. He acknowledged Iraq’s pivotal role as a neighbouring country with extensive borders with Iran and its significant involvement in regional mediation efforts with Saudi Arabia, Jordan, and Egypt.

Regarding Kurdish relations, Ale Sadeq supported an agreement among Kurdish factions, particularly between the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) and the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP). He also conveyed satisfaction with local governance in Kirkuk and Diyala, underscoring the need for justice and equal rights for all ethnic groups in these regions.

Ale Sadeq detailed a two-year-old security agreement focused on border control and disarming separatist groups. He justified Iran’s actions against threats from separatist groups using Kurdish territory and provided evidence of Israeli activities in these regions.

He reiterated Iran’s commitment to cooperating with Iraq on issues related to the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) and emphasized the need for unity and collaboration among Kurdish factions for regional stability.
