WANA (Sep 23) – Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister, Seyed Abbas Araghchi, has rejected recent statements by a US spokesperson, claiming that the US had no prior knowledge or involvement in the explosions of pagers in Lebanon.

In an interview, Araghchi stressed, “It is hard to believe that the Americans were unaware of these events or had no role in them. The assertion that they were informed solely through the media is not credible.”

Addressing the US stance on the matter, Araghchi added, “Their spokesperson claimed that the US had no involvement in this operation and was unaware of it, but from our perspective, this is not acceptable. The US is a major partner in many of these crimes, particularly through its military, intelligence, and political support.”

Referring to the ongoing US support for Israel, Araghchi stated, “It is the United States that blocks UN Security Council resolutions related to Gaza and continues its political support for Israel. Therefore, the Americans cannot distance themselves from these atrocities.”

He further explained, “The Americans consistently send messages through diplomatic channels. Switzerland acts as a mediator to convey their communications, and in this instance, they also shared their views through this channel, though there was nothing particularly significant in the message.”
