WANA (Sep 24) – According to the latest report from Elsevier, 2,503 researchers from Iran rank among the top 2% of scientists worldwide. Based on citation metrics, this evaluation has become a pivotal criterion for assessing researchers’ impact in their fields.

 

Developed by Stanford researchers, the methodology analyzes data across 22 broad subject areas and 174 specialized fields using Scopus citation indexes.

 

The September 2024 report reveals that Iranian researchers significantly contribute to global knowledge. The annual performance list showcases 2,327 Iranian researchers among 223,252 globally.

 

In the career performance list, 1,020 Iranian researchers are included out of 217,097 worldwide, with Tehran University leading in both categories.

 

While citations are crucial indicators of scholarly impact, the report stresses that assessments should consider research quality, collaborations, and social influence.

 

This study is part of the “NEMA” system, initiated by the Iranian Research Institute for Science and Technology, which monitors and reports Iran’s scientific status globally available at NEMA.IRANDOC.AC.IR.
