WANA (Sep 26) – Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Nasser Kanaani considered recent claims by U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken about alleged threats from Iran against Donald Trump as “absurd and baseless”, stating that the accusations lack merit and serve specific political objectives.

Kanaani stated, “The formulation of these political attributions and accusations during the current volatile conditions in the region cannot diminish the international responsibility of the U.S. government in supporting the Zionist regime and its crimes in Palestine and Lebanon. Public opinion globally holds the U.S. and its officials accountable for such atrocities.”

He further emphasized that these type of claims from the U.S. government against the Islamic Republic of Iran will not hinder Iran’s determination to seek legal and judicial redress against those responsible for crimes against the Iranian people. He asserted that time would not shield criminals from prosecution and punishment.

Previously, Secretary Blinken had referenced unfounded claims regarding Iran’s involvement in a purported assassination attempt against the former President of the United States, Donald Trump, citing threats from Iran against current and former officials.

In response to repeated allegations of Iranian interference in U.S. elections, Kanaani strongly rejected these claims, noting that they are rooted in political and electoral motivations and are merely intended to exert pressure on Iran.
