WANA (Oct 07) – In a recent address at Shahid Satari Air University, Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari highlighted the Navy’s significant advancements since the Islamic Revolution.

 

He noted achievements in various sectors, including the construction of submarines across different classes, advanced missile destroyers, heavy and light support vessels, as well as surface and underwater helicopters and missile systems.

 

Admiral Sayyari explained that the Navy’s destroyers are named after famous Iranian peaks, the Shahnameh inspires missile boats, and support vessels are named after Iranian islands.

 

He mentioned that the first destroyer, Jamarān, was followed by Dāmāvand, Sahand, and Denā, with the Taftān destroyer soon to join the fleet.

 

He emphasized the Navy’s high capabilities, stating there are no issues in constructing destroyers, thanks to the creativity and competence of the personnel.
