WANA (Oct 12) – Participating in the international conference “Interconnection of Times and Civilizations – Basis of Peace and Development” and meetings with the presidents of several countries were among the highlights of the recent visit of the Iranian President to Turkmenistan.

Although the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran traveled to Ashgabat for a cultural international conference, the commemoration of a Turkmen Iranian poet became an occasion for Pezeshkian to meet with the leaders of some regional countries and the Russian president as well.

In Pursuit of Significant Achievements

Before his trip to Turkmenistan, Pezeshkian said: “We have a long and secure border with Turkmenistan, and we can pursue issues of transit and the North-South corridor. We can also follow up on economic, investment, oil, gas, and electricity matters with Turkmenistan. I hope this trip will yield important achievements in fostering cordiality, cultural, economic, scientific, and expert exchanges.”

Dialogue of Unity, a Need for Today’s International Community

During his visit to Turkmenistan, Pezeshkian attended the international conference on the interconnection of eras and civilizations, stating that the idea of unity and creating harmony is not limited to Islamic societies but that the conversation about peace, deepening brotherhood, and building a dialogue of unity is a pressing need for today’s international community.

He further mentioned, “One of the topics I want to discuss is the existence of hidden plots aimed at creating divisions and enmity among Islamic sects. This is an issue that must be considered by all Islamic societies. Significant parts of the Islamic world are threatened by extremism and the growth of groups whose existence is defined by dividing the Islamic community. When great figures like Makhtumquli speak of unity among Islamic societies, they are well aware of the dark aspects and sufferings of division.”

In response to a journalist’s question regarding what message he has for the Zionist regime, Pezeshkian said: “The Zionist regime must stop the killing. They should not kill innocent people, bomb homes, or oppress helpless people with their power and support.”

Pezeshkian added, “This year’s United Nations theme is peace, security, and human dignity, which means we must treat everyone based on peace, security, and dignity.”
