WANA (Oct 12) – The Speaker of the Islamic Consultative Assembly of Iran and the caretaker Prime Minister of Lebanon met and held discussions.

 

Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, Speaker of Iran’s Parliament, traveled to Beirut today, Saturday, October 12, and met with Najib Mikati, the caretaker Prime Minister of Lebanon.

 

Upon his arrival at Beirut Airport, Ghalibaf said: “I am heading to Geneva, but I decided to first come to Beirut at the invitation of Mr. Nabih Berri to deliver the message of the Iranian people, officials, leadership, and the presidency to the people of Lebanon. I want to declare that, as always, we stand by the people and government of Lebanon and the resistance movement. In difficult times, just as in the past, we will continue to support them.”

 

The Iranian Speaker further added: “After this visit, I will travel to Geneva to participate in the IPU conference, where I will carry the message of the oppressed people of Gaza and Lebanon. I aim to raise awareness about our responsibilities and theirs on the international stage to support the oppressed, ensuring that we stand by the oppressed people of Lebanon and Palestine.”

 

This afternoon, after meeting with Lebanese officials, Ghalibaf will depart from Beirut to Geneva, where a significant portion of his meetings and speeches will take place at the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) summit, which starts tomorrow.
