Iran’s Response to Israel Claim of Hamas Requesting Money
WANA (Oct 13) – Iran’s Permanent Mission to the United Nations, in response to rumors, deceptive psychological operations, and fabricated claims by Israel in Jerusalem regarding Hamas requesting $500 million from Iran, stated: “We consider the Israeli regime to be a criminal and deceitful entity, and we do not give any credence to its delusions.”
Earlier, in response to inquiries from The New York Times and The Wall Street Journal about Israel’s alleged access to documents indicating Iran’s knowledge of the October 7 operation, the Iranian mission stated, “Given that Hamas officials based in Doha have declared they were not aware of this operation, and that the planning and execution were solely the responsibility of Hamas’ military wing in Gaza, any claim linking Iran or Hezbollah to this operation, either partially or fully, lacks credibility and is considered fabricated.”
On October 7, 2023, Palestinian resistance groups launched a surprise attack named “Al-Aqsa Storm” from Gaza against Israeli positions. After 45 days of intense fighting, a temporary four-day ceasefire was agreed upon on November 24, 2023, aimed at facilitating the exchange of prisoners between Hamas and Israel. This ceasefire lasted for seven days before ending on December 1, 2023, when Israel resumed its attacks on Gaza.
This operation was carried out in response to years of Israeli actions against Palestinians. However, Israel has continued its military operations and rejected further ceasefire proposals, while tensions in the Middle East appear to be escalating.
According to the Gaza Health Ministry, the Israeli attacks have so far resulted in 42,175 deaths and 98,336 injuries.
