WANA (Oct 13) – Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi, after meeting with Iraq’s Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein in Baghdad, emphasized that Iran is prepared for both war and peace in the face of escalating regional tensions.

During the joint press conference, Araghchi warned about the growing risk of conflict fueled by Israeli actions, particularly in Gaza and Lebanon, and called for unified efforts to stop Israel’s aggression.

Araghchi stressed Iran’s desire for peace while asserting that the country is fully prepared for war if necessary. “We are not seeking war; we desire peace,” Araghchi emphasized. “However, we are prepared for any situation, including war. We are not afraid of conflict.”

He also highlighted Iran’s continued humanitarian support for displaced Lebanese people, stating that the global community has largely overlooked the fact that approximately 1.5 million people in Lebanon have been displaced due to Israeli attacks. “We will continue to send aid to the Lebanese refugees,” he affirmed, commending Iraq for hosting those affected.

Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein, during the joint press conference with his Iranian counterpart Seyed Abbas Araghchi, also firmly stated that Iraq opposes any expansion of the regional conflict towards the Islamic Republic of Iran. He emphasized, “The use of Iraq’s airspace for such purposes is unacceptable, and we are completely against it.”

Araghchi concluded by praising Iraq’s firm stance against allowing its territory to be used for attacks on neighboring countries, including Iran. “We appreciate the Iraqi government’s friendly and brotherly position,” he added, underscoring the importance of ongoing diplomatic cooperation between the two nations.

He also noted ongoing discussions with Iraqi officials regarding bilateral, regional, and international issues, stating that his visit was specifically aimed at addressing the critical challenges currently facing the region.
