WANA (Oct 17) – Iranian General Nilforoushan was killed last month in Beirut during a heavy Israeli bombardment, which was aimed at assassinating Hezbollah leader Seyed Hassan Nasrallah.

 

After some time, his body was transferred to Iran, and following funeral processions in sacred cities and Tehran, he was laid to rest today in his hometown, Isfahan.

 

The funeral was grand, with a large turnout. No one expected such a crowd at the procession for General Nilforoushan, a figure not widely known to the media or public.

 

Today’s speaker was General Salami, Commander of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). Having lost an experienced comrade, Salami once again labelled Israel as the source of all evil and threatened its destruction if it attacked Iran.

 

“To Israel and its officials, I say, ‘True Promise 2’ operation was just a warning. We carried out the ‘True Promise’ so you could adjust your calculations. You should know that when you attack our citizens, figures, and interests, we will strike back,” General Salami said.

 

The IRGC commander declared, “When our borders are violated, we will not hesitate to target Israel.” Tehran has long warned Israel and the U.S. that its threats are not empty and that it will act on what it says. “You know, when we say something, we act on it. And now, we’re saying, be careful not to make a mistake. If you target any of our interests, whether in the region or in Iran, we will strike you painfully again,” Salami said firmly and decisively.

These days, Iranians are anticipating retaliatory strikes from Israeli forces in response to the “True Promise 2” operation carried out a few weeks ago. However, it seems Tehran is waiting for just such a misstep from its opponent.“Today if you violate any part of us, we will respond with a painful strike to that very point. Decide carefully,” the IRGC commander stated during today’s ceremony.

The U.S. deployment of the “THAAD” missile defence system to Israel has become the subject of serious discussion in military and political circles and even satire on Iranian social media.

 

This move by the U.S. is seen less as a display of strength and more as an indication of fear and concern for Israel’s survival. This is the message Iran has received from the deployment of “THAAD” to the occupied territories.

 

In his speech, Commander Salami also addressed this issue, challenging the presence of the system: “Don’t trust the ‘THAADs’; you cannot commit massacres and expect to remain safe.”

 

Many people attended the funeral not only to honour the sacrifice of their commander but also to express their anger toward Israel. Anti-Israel and anti-America slogans were the loudest heard throughout the ceremony, and it can be said that today, the people of central Iran voiced their hatred for Israel and the U.S.
