Iranian General: Passive Defense Enhances Deterrence
WANA (Oct 28) – Major General Mohammad Bagheri, the Chief of Staff of Iran’s Armed Forces, underscored the significance of passive defense in boosting Iran’s ability to deter threats and effectively manage crises. He described passive defense as a strategic, non-military approach that uses modern knowledge and insights to maintain national stability.
In a statement marking Iran’s Passive Defense Week, General Bagheri addressed Brigadier General Gholamreza Jalali, head of the National Civil Defense Organization, extending congratulations to him and his team.
The message emphasized the strategic importance of comprehensive defense preparedness for Iran, given its unique geopolitical position and the variety of both traditional and emerging threats it faces.
Bagheri underscored that this type of defense is central to Iran’s “national power,” enhancing deterrence, reducing vulnerabilities, and supporting national resilience in the face of threats.
He praised the passive defense Organization for its foresight and commitment to creating effective, timely, and strategic responses to potential crises, contributing to national peace.
Bagheri also highlighted the importance of ongoing threat monitoring to prevent strategic surprises and stressed the need to educate the public on passive defense responsibilities.
He concluded by seeking continued success for those serving in the passive defense sector under the guidance of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Khamenei.
