WANA (Nov 04) – In a phone conversation between Iran’s Foreign Minister, Seyed Abbas Araghchi, and Egypt’s Foreign Minister, Badr Abdel-Aty, the two sides discussed regional developments and the escalating crises in Lebanon and Gaza.

Both ministers emphasized the need for increased international efforts to halt the atrocities of the Israeli regime in Gaza and Lebanon, establish a ceasefire, and prevent further escalation in the region. They also stressed the importance of providing immediate assistance to the vulnerable and displaced people in these areas.

Iran’s Foreign Minister outlined the Islamic Republic’s position on regional developments, pointing to the Israeli regime’s provocative actions that threaten regional peace and stability. He emphasized Iran’s right to legitimate defense against any aggression targeting the nation’s security and territorial integrity.

Additionally, he urged the international community to take swift and effective action to stop what he described as the “genocidal machine” of the Israeli regime, and he called for collective collaboration among Islamic countries in this matter.

Abdel-Aty expressed deep concern over the escalating tensions and the potential for the conflict to expand into a full-scale war in the region. He urged all regional parties to take necessary measures to prevent conflict, warning that a broader war would benefit no one and would have dire consequences for the people of the region.

The Egyptian Foreign Minister also stressed the importance of supporting Lebanon’s sovereignty, strengthening its internal institutions, and urged for the election of a president based on consensus and free from foreign interference.

Regarding the Gaza crisis, Abdel-Aty highlighted Egypt’s coordinated efforts with Qatar and the United States to secure a ceasefire, facilitate access to humanitarian aid and medical supplies, and ensure the release of hostages. He called on the global community to take more immediate steps to end the violence and address the severe humanitarian crisis in Gaza.

At the end of the discussion, both sides agreed to continue consultations and dialogue between the two countries on regional developments.
