Araghchi: No Tension, But a Timely Response to Israeli Aggression
WANA (Nov 05) – In a joint press conference with his Pakistani counterpart, Mohammad Ishaq Dar, Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi stated that Iran is not seeking conflict, unlike what he described as the aggressive stance of the Israeli regime. “We will respond to the Israeli regime’s aggression at the appropriate time,” he said.
Araghchi, who is on an official visit to Islamabad, condemned the Israeli actions in Gaza and Lebanon, asserting that the Israeli regime is committing genocide. He expressed disappointment with the international community’s inability to halt the violence perpetrated by Israel.
He further highlighted Israel’s recent attacks on Iranian military sites, particularly referencing an incident on October 26, which he claimed revealed the regime’s belligerent and expansionist nature.
While maintaining that Iran is not interested in escalating tensions, Araghchi affirmed Iran’s right to legitimate self-defense under Article 51 of the UN Charter. He assured that Iran would respond appropriately and methodically to any aggression.
The Iranian Foreign Minister also expressed appreciation for the firm and commendable stance of the Pakistani government in condemning this aggression.
Araghchi shared his views on regional developments with Ishaq Dar Emphasizing the longstanding relationship between Iran and Pakistan, he called for strengthening ties across various sectors, including trade, politics, culture, and science.
Iranian Foreign Minister also identified terrorism as a significant challenge in the region, noting that both Iran and Pakistan are currently engaged in combating this threat. He reiterated the importance of cooperation between the two nations in the fight against terrorism.
