WANA (Nov 11) – The First Vice President of Iran, referring to Iran’s proposal for an emergency meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and the Arab League, stated that the aim of this gathering is to stop the war and bloodshed in Lebanon and Palestine.

 

Mohammad Reza Aref, Iran’s First Vice President, announced before departing for Riyadh that the meeting was organized through the efforts of Iran’s Foreign Minister. He emphasized, “We are seeking an end to the war, aid for the displaced, and a ceasefire in Palestine and Lebanon.”

 

The meeting, which is set to take place today, Monday, in Riyadh, will continue with the participation of leaders and officials from Arab and Islamic countries to discuss ways to halt Israel’s war against Gaza and Lebanon, as well as to address regional developments. During this session, officials from Arab and Islamic countries will exchange views to create a unified stance to prevent further Israeli attacks on Palestinian and Lebanese territories.

 

In this context, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, in a phone call with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, explained that due to a heavy workload, he would not be able to attend the meeting. Mohammad Reza Aref will represent him instead.

 

Aref, highlighting Iran’s role in proposing this meeting and expressing hope for achieving effective outcomes, stated, “During this meeting, Iran’s stance on ending the war and assisting civilians in Lebanon and Palestine will be presented.”

 

Today’s meeting will also include Arab and Islamic foreign ministers, led by Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan, who coordinated preparations yesterday.
