WANA (Nov 12) – Iran’s First Vice President stated: “The world must recognize that the Zionist regime should be held accountable, and people everywhere need to be aware of the concerning conditions faced by the oppressed people of Gaza and Lebanon. Humanitarian aid must reach them as soon as possible, along with an honorable ceasefire.”

Mohammad Reza Aref, Iran’s First Vice President, speaking to reporters after a one-day visit to Riyadh, said: “The emergency summit of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and the Arab League was organized at Iran’s suggestion and with the Foreign Ministry’s efforts, and it was well-received by leaders of Islamic and Arab countries.”

He added: “This summit successfully fostered unity among Islamic and Arab countries. Holding a summit of this level in the current situation is a major achievement for the Islamic Republic, with such a warm reception to its proposal. Saudi Arabia also provided excellent hosting, and, given the ongoing aggressions of the Zionist regime, holding this summit was essential to send a unified message to the world. Thankfully, that message was heard, and a comprehensive and strong resolution was passed, emphasizing the need to halt the criminal actions of the occupying regime.”

Aref noted: “Our colleagues at the Foreign Ministry presented strong proposals at the summit, most of which were approved. The world must understand that the Zionist regime should be punished, and people everywhere need to realize that the vulnerable populations of Gaza and Lebanon are in alarming situations. Humanitarian aid must be delivered urgently, alongside a dignified ceasefire.”

The First Vice President said: “One of the resolution’s key provisions is to pursue the suspension and expulsion of the Zionist regime from the United Nations, which carries significant political implications. Today, the Western world, which has long made empty claims about human rights, must reevaluate its stance and abandon its double standards. It cannot stay silent on the massacre of thousands while mourning the death of a single individual elsewhere.”

He continued: “During this summit, I had brief discussions with several leaders, and notably, all Islamic countries expressed interest in strengthening ties with Iran. We also had a warm, productive meeting with Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince, emphasizing the necessity and potential benefits of developing relations. We believe that closer bilateral ties between Iran and Saudi Arabia will foster solidarity and consensus among regional and Islamic countries.”

He further stated: “Following the New York summit, Dr. Araqchi met with Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Minister, and it was agreed that we would see progress in all areas of cooperation. God willing, we will witness positive changes that benefit both nations and the Islamic world.”
