Iran: An Unyielding Maritime Power Defying Isolation
WANA (Nov 23) – Rear Admiral Shahram Irani, Commander of the Iranian Navy, emphasized in a press conference that Iran will never be isolated and continues to play an active role in international developments.
Condemning Israeli actions, he highlighted the strategic importance of maintaining a strong maritime presence, with plans underway to enhance the operational capabilities of the naval fleet, develop new submarines, and strengthen naval bases across the oceans. He announced that new equipment would soon be added to the fleet.
He added that the world is facing growing maritime challenges, and safeguarding the security of communication lines in both peace and wartime requires a powerful navy.
Admiral Irani noted that the Iranian Navy has successfully neutralized threats and sanctions, contributing significantly to the nation’s progress and bolstering the strength of the Islamic Republic.

Strategic Naval Plans
Admiral Irani revealed plans to build heavy destroyers and complete two warships, while announcing that a joint naval exercise involving new participating countries will take place by year’s end. Efforts are also underway to coordinate the participation of air forces from these nations in the exercise.
Furthermore, the Navy is actively pursuing international collaborations, including joint patrols, student and faculty exchanges, and joint drills with neighboring countries.
The Navy Commander also highlighted Iran’s achievements in missile technology, boasting a range exceeding 1,000 kilometers, and advancements in electronic warfare, which he described as a source of national pride.

Iran’s Role in the New Global Order
Referring to attempts by certain countries to disrupt the regional balance of power, Admiral Irani stated that Iran, through its strengthened naval capabilities and a peace-oriented approach, seeks to cement its position in the emerging multipolar world order.
He emphasized that Iran’s naval power extends beyond operational wartime capabilities, encompassing control over international trade, utilization of oceanic resources, and leveraging maritime economic power as a tool for diplomacy and political influence.
Admiral Irani asserted that Iran’s strategy of resistance and its slogan of peace and friendship guide its efforts to establish itself as a key player in the transition to a new global order. This, he added, reflects the decline of U.S. hegemony and the rise of a multipolar international system.
