WANA (Dec 08) – The spokesperson for Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Esmail Baghaei, reaffirmed that the country’s nuclear activities are peaceful, transparent, and conducted under the supervision of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

Responding to journalists’ inquiries about recent remarks by IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi concerning Iran’s capability to enrich uranium to 60% purity, Baghaei stated, “Mr. Grossi’s comments reflect the confrontational and nonconstructive approach taken by the three European countries and the United States at the IAEA Board of Governors. These nations, without any logical justification or legal basis, pushed for and passed a resolution against Iran.”

Baghaei highlighted Grossi’s recent visit to Tehran and the agreements made to enhance technical cooperation between Iran and the IAEA. “Mr. Grossi came to Iran with constructive initiatives, but the actions of the European countries and the U.S., driven by a policy of pressure and misuse of the Board of Governors, ultimately undermined the director general’s efforts,” he remarked.

He emphasized that Iran’s peaceful nuclear program operates fully within the framework of the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) and the Comprehensive Safeguards Agreement, underlining its transparency. “Recent activities have been communicated to the IAEA in detail and remain under continuous monitoring by the agency,” Baghaei added.
