Eslami: Iran Fully Cooperates with IAEA – No Obstruction of Monitoring
WANA (Dec 14) – Mohammad Eslami, Vice President of Iran and Head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI), stated that the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has maintained consistent access to Iran’s nuclear activities under the framework of the Safeguards Agreement and the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT). He emphasized that Iran has not and will not impose any restrictions on this access.
Speaking on the sidelines of a nuclear achievements exhibition, Eslami addressed the recent agreement between Iran and the IAEA concerning monitoring.
He explained that as Iran’s nuclear capacity increases, the scope of inspections naturally expands.
“When nuclear activities grow, especially those involving nuclear materials, the level of oversight must also scale up. With increased capacity, it is expected that the number of inspections will also rise,” he said.
Eslami also criticized certain allegations against Iran’s nuclear program, attributing them to Israel.
He remarked, “These distortions and accusations are driven by the Zionist regime, which has long sought to undermine Iran’s nuclear activities through global propaganda.”
Referring to the March 2023 Tehran Statement issued with the IAEA Director General, Eslami reaffirmed that Iran’s cooperation with the agency remains within the framework of safeguards and the NPT.
He mentioned ongoing efforts to resolve outstanding issues related to two sites and dismissed the claims as unfounded, alleging they were fabricated by Israel.
Eslami concluded by underscoring Iran’s commitment to international agreements, stating, “The IAEA continues to have access for its monitoring activities, and we remain compliant with safeguards obligations. We are committed to operating within the defined framework, and the agency follows its established protocols.”
