WANA (Dec 17)- This morning, in a meeting with thousands of women and girls, the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution criticized the Western approach toward women’s issues, highlighting an example of dishonesty by politicians and capitalists in this field.

He stated, “Various groups across the world discuss and engage with the issue of women from different motivations and orientations. However, capitalists and politicians—who themselves rely on these capitalists—intervene in these matters with the intention of political and colonial domination. They hide their corrupt and criminal agendas behind philosophical, theoretical, and seemingly humanitarian covers.”

Referring to a historical example, the Leader said, “Around a century ago, Westerners raised slogans about women’s freedom and financial independence. On the surface, this appeared attractive and noble, but the hidden reality was to exploit women as cheap labor in factories. The male workforce was not sufficient, and they needed women to work, paying them less than men. This policy was implemented under a supposedly humanitarian guise.”

The Leader also criticized contemporary attitudes that undermine motherhood, saying, “Today, following the same colonial and capitalist policies, some portray motherhood in a negative light. If someone discusses the importance of childbearing and family, they are ridiculed and mocked. But motherhood is an honor. For a woman to nurture and raise a human being, enduring significant hardship both during pregnancy and in the early stages of the child’s life, is no small accomplishment—it is a profoundly valuable and prestigious role. This is why Islam places special emphasis on the role of mothers.”

Emphasizing the equal capacities of men and women in various fields, he stated, “From an intellectual and spiritual perspective, men and women possess boundless potential. There is no difference between the two. In the fields of science, art, intellectual creativity, and practical innovation—as well as social, political, and economic activities—these abilities exist in both genders. History has witnessed exceptional female scholars, and today, women are present in academic and scientific institutions at unprecedented levels.”

In conclusion, the Supreme Leader stressed the need to preserve the dignity and status of women, underscoring the critical importance of motherhood as an honorable and vital responsibility. He warned against following flawed Western policies that aim to belittle this sacred role.
