Iran Condemns Israeli Attacks on Yemen’s Infrastructure
WANA (Dec 19) – The spokesperson for Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs strongly condemned recent Israeli airstrikes targeting Yemen’s infrastructure.
Speaking on Thursday, Esmail Baghaei denounced the attacks, which struck civilian infrastructure including the Sana’a power plant, Ras Isa fuel storage facilities, and Hudaydah port. He described the strikes as a blatant violation of international law and the United Nations Charter.
“These criminal acts by the Israeli regime occur under the unconditional support of the United States, making Washington complicit in Tel Aviv’s lawlessness and atrocities,” Baghaei stated.
The Iranian official praised the Yemeni people’s solidarity with Palestine and urged the international community, particularly the Islamic world, to take legal and moral responsibility to halt Israeli aggression. He called for prosecuting and punishing the Israeli regime for crimes detailed in the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court, including aggression and war crimes.
According to Yemeni media, at least 12 civilians were killed or injured in Thursday’s Israeli airstrikes on several areas in the country. Al-Masirah reported seven fatalities in an attack on the port of Al-Salif, while strikes on Ras Isa oil facilities left two dead and one injured. Two additional injuries were reported following attacks on Hudaydah port.
Israeli media confirmed early Thursday that its fighter jets targeted locations in Yemen’s capital, Sana’a, and the western province of Hudaydah.
Al-Mayadeen, citing Yemeni sources, reported that the Hezyaz power station in southern Sana’a was bombed three times. Additional attacks included two airstrikes on the Dahban power plant in northern Sana’a, four strikes on Hudaydah port, and two on Ras Isa oil facilities.
In a formal statement, the Israeli military acknowledged conducting airstrikes along Yemen’s western coast and interior regions.
