Iran Ties Embassy Reopening Decision to Syria’s Leadership
WANA (Dec 25) – The Iranian government spokesperson responded to recent misinterpretations of her remarks regarding the potential reopening of Iran’s embassy in Syria, stating that the Islamic Republic’s decision will be based on the behavior and policies of Syria’s ruling authorities.
Fatemeh Mohajerani, addressing her comments during yesterday’s weekly press briefing in response to questions about recent developments in Syria and bilateral relations, clarified: “Iran will make its decision considering the actions and policies of the Syrian leadership. As you are aware, the current situation in Syria remains unclear.”
Commenting on the sudden policy shifts by some countries regarding Syria, Mohajerani said, “It is uncertain how and with what justification these nations have abruptly altered their approach toward Syria. The Islamic Republic of Iran will base its decision on Syria’s leadership’s conduct and performance.”
