WANA (Jan 12) – In a recent interview, Admiral Habibollah Sayyari, the Iranian Army’s Deputy Chief and Coordinating Officer, unveiled a series of significant military advancements and exercises.

Admiral Sayyari announced the imminent addition of over 1,000 strategic drones to the Iranian Army’s arsenal. These drones feature stealth capabilities, high explosive power, extended range, and precision targeting, enhancing the army’s operational strength.

He also revealed plans to unveil advanced systems for the Army’s Ground Forces in the coming days, further bolstering their operational capabilities.

Highlighting the expansion of the Navy’s presence along the Makran coasts, Admiral Sayyari announced the completion of the first phase of the Second Naval Zone in Jask. The facilities include breakwaters, docks, and port infrastructure aimed at enhancing naval operations and ensuring a stronger presence in international waters.

A new warship is set to join the Navy soon, which Admiral Sayyari emphasized as a critical enhancement to the Navy’s combat capabilities. Upgraded vessels and aerial units are also scheduled to be integrated into the fleet in the near future.

Admiral Sayyari detailed the Army’s ongoing and upcoming drills across its four main branches:

Joint Air Defense Exercise: Aimed at countering long-range threats, this exercise involved the Army and Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) air defense units, as well as electronic warfare teams.

Counter-Terrorism Drills: Exercises targeting terrorist threats are planned for the northeast and west of the country, supported by the Air Force.

Cyber Defense Drills: Recognizing cyberspace as a modern battleground, a large-scale cyber defense drill involving all military branches and strategic units is in preparation.

Civil Defense Drill: This nationwide exercise is being organized in collaboration with the Civil Defense Organization.

Combined Naval Drill: An international maritime exercise, dubbed the “Security Belt Drill,” will take place in the Gulf of Oman and the northern Indian Ocean. Participating countries are invited to either join with naval assets or observe for experience-sharing.

Admiral Sayyari concluded by announcing the Army’s flagship exercise, the “Zolfaghar Drill,” scheduled for February. This comprehensive drill will involve land, air, naval, and air defense forces, showcasing the Army’s operational readiness and capabilities.
