WANA (Jan 22) – The Iranian Deputy President for Strategic Affairs met with several Western officials on the first day of his participation in the Davos summit.

 

Meeting with WEF President

Upon his arrival at Davos, Mohammad Javad Zarif met with Børge Brende, President of the World Economic Forum (WEF). During the meeting, the two sides discussed potential collaborations between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the WEF.

 

Brende highlighted Iran’s strengths in robust infrastructure and experienced human resources, suggesting that regional Davos forums be held in Iran or that Iran actively participate in regional WEF meetings, involving business representatives, the private sector, and chambers of commerce.

He also invited Iranian political and economic officials to participate in the WEF’s upcoming meeting in June in Chiang Jiang, China. Furthermore, it was agreed that a delegation led by Iran’s Vice President for Technology, accompanied by members of the private sector and chambers of commerce, would attend the event.

 

Zarif Appreciates Norway’s Support for Anti-Israeli Court Verdicts

In another meeting, Zarif, Iran’s Deputy President for Strategic Affairs, met with Norwegian Foreign Minister Espen Barth Eide to discuss developments in West Asia and bilateral relations.

 

Zarif expressed gratitude for Norway’s explicit condemnation of Israeli regime crimes and its support for rulings by the International Court of Justice (ICJ) and the International Criminal Court (ICC).

 

Consultations on West Asia with Serbia’s President

Continuing his diplomatic engagements, Zarif met with Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić to discuss West Asia’s latest developments.

In the meeting, Zarif stressed the need for a fundamental resolution of the Palestinian crisis, emphasizing that the lack of serious attention to the roots of the problem continues to fuel instability in the region.

 

Session on Recent West Asia Developments at Davos 2025

To analyze recent developments and the future outlook of West Asia and North Africa, a session was held with the participation of the Iranian Deputy President for Strategic Affairs, regional foreign ministers, and foreign ministers from non-regional countries. As the second speaker, Mohammad Javad Zarif outlined Iran’s stance in detail.

 

55th Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum

The 55th annual meeting of the WEF, held under the theme “Cooperation for the Smart Era,” will continue until Friday in the Swiss city of Davos, featuring senior government officials and private sector leaders from around the world.
