Tabriz Named the “Environmental Capital of Asian Countries” for 2025
WANA (Feb 09) – The metropolis of Tabriz, one of Iran’s major cities in East Azerbaijan Province, and Antalya, Turkey, have been jointly selected as the “Environmental Capitals of Asian Countries” for the year 2025.
Following a call from the Asian Mayors Forum in recent months to choose the 2025 environmental capital, Tabriz officially announced its candidacy for the title.
Tabriz has long been known for its unique climate and has remained Iran’s cleanest city for decades.
The city’s extensive environmental infrastructure initiatives also played a crucial role in convincing the Asian Mayors Forum to grant Tabriz this prestigious title.
Following the selection, the Asian Mayors Forum congratulated Tabriz and Antalya, describing this achievement as a testament to their commitment, innovation, and efforts toward environmental excellence. The forum further expressed its eagerness to continue strengthening cooperation among Asian cities to build a brighter and more sustainable future for all.
According to the forum, Tabriz stands as a sustainable model in Asia and beyond due to its innovative eco-friendly policies and social initiatives in the environmental sector.
