WANA (Feb 23) – The spokesman for Iran’s Zolfaghar 2025 joint military exercise, Alireza Sheikh, reported that the second day of the main phase of the drill demonstrated exceptional support and timely coordination between ground, air, and naval forces.

In this phase, Sheikh emphasized the success of the Navy’s special forces in overcoming diverse natural obstacles while maintaining control over combat strategies, intelligence gathering, and countering enemy operations.

Despite these challenges, the forces successfully halted enemy activities and intelligence operations. Supported by coastal defence units, which conducted both light and heavy artillery strikes on pre-designated targets, they were able to neutralize advancing enemy units and destroy their troops and columns in a short time.

Sheikh highlighted a series of successful military operations, including the destruction of enemy vessels by fast attack boats equipped with rocket launchers (Azarakhsh and Shahab boats), unconventional mine-laying operations by Ra’ad assault boats, coastal defence operations by coastal artillery, and coastal demolition operations.

Additionally, Sheikh noted that tactical operations such as raids, freefall parachuting, explosive traps, helicopter assaults, and vertical troop exchanges were carried out by Navy infantry and special forces units.

The exercise also showcased the presence of veteran commanders and instructors from the Islamic Republic of Iran Army alongside younger forces. Their guidance, tactical advice, and expertise played a crucial role in shaping the drill’s realistic combat environment, emphasizing the importance of enhancing strengths and focusing on effective combat strategies along the coastline.

Sheikh concluded by stating that one of the key objectives of the drill is to facilitate joint operations between the four branches of the military. The exercise aimed to foster synergy and coordination between forces and equipment with diverse types, techniques, and tactics, which are essential to strengthening deterrence capabilities and countering potential threats.
