Araghchi Warns of Terrorist Threats Amid Regional Instability
WANA (Mar 08 ) – Iran’s Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi has warned that the ongoing instability in Syria serves the interests of the “Zionist regime” and creates opportunities for terrorist and extremist groups to exploit the situation. He stressed that ensuring the security and well-being of all Syrians is a key responsibility of the country’s new leadership.
Araghchi, who traveled to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, to attend an extraordinary session of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) foreign ministers, met with his Turkish counterpart, Hakan Fidan, on the sidelines of the summit.
During the meeting, Araghchi emphasized the need for greater coordination among Islamic countries to confront challenges facing the Muslim world, particularly in West Asia.
He called for a unified and decisive stance to counter efforts aimed at the colonial eradication of Palestine, including the forced displacement of Gazans and the annexation of the West Bank by the occupying entity.
Regarding Iran-Turkey relations, Araghchi described bilateral ties as exceptional and based on the mutual interests of the two neighboring Muslim nations. He stressed that safeguarding these relations is a shared responsibility of both governments.
The Turkish foreign minister, Hakan Fidan, echoed these concerns, reaffirming Turkey’s commitment to supporting the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people and their struggle against occupation.
He also highlighted the strategic importance of Turkey-Iran relations, stressing the determination of both countries’ leaders to maintain and enhance cooperation across various fields.
