WANA (Mar 18) – The International Nowruz Emblem was unveiled at the Persepolis World Heritage Site in the presence of ambassadors from Nowruz-celebrating countries.

Speaking on the sidelines of the unveiling ceremony, the head of the UNESCO Center for the Study of the Safeguarding of Intangible Cultural Heritage in West and Central Asia stated that the emblem was designed by the Nowruz Nations Foundation at the request of Persepolis.

Atousa Momeni added that the emblem is inspired by Nowruz symbols found in Persepolis.

She explained that the lotus flower is recognized as a symbol of peace and friendship among all Nowruz nations, which is why it was chosen as the emblem’s central motif.

Momeni also noted that the International Nowruz Emblem has been named “Tahvil”, representing the transition of time. Additionally, it symbolizes Sabzeh (green sprouts), a common element in Nowruz celebrations across various cultures.

The head of the UNESCO center announced that the International Nowruz Nations Foundation has donated the emblem to the Persepolis World Museum.

The president of the Nowruz Nations Foundation stated that, from now on, this emblem will be awarded annually to individuals who contribute to peace.

The International Nowruz Festival was held yesterday morning at Persepolis, attended by the ambassadors of Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan in Iran.
