WANA (Apr 06) – The Iranian Embassy in Hungary has strongly condemned Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s recent anti-Iran remarks made during his visit to Budapest, dismissing them as baseless and hypocritical in light of Israel’s record, particularly the atrocities committed in Gaza.

In an official statement, the Embassy referred to Netanyahu as a “notorious war criminal and child-killer” who is currently wanted by the International Criminal Court (ICC) for crimes against humanity and genocide.

The statement also described the Israeli regime as a “colonial apartheid entity” pursuing the “colonial eradication” of the indigenous Palestinian population. “For such a figure to label Iran as a threat to peace is nothing short of absurd,” the Embassy said. “What a grotesque display of irony.”

The Iranian mission added, “Netanyahu and his associates belong behind bars. He has committed virtually every imaginable crime that a sadistic psychopath could conceive. He and the criminal clique he represents pose a serious threat not only to global peace but also, more importantly, to humanity and our shared human values.”

During his April 3 visit to Hungary, Netanyahu claimed that “Western and Judeo-Christian civilization is under attack by a powerful enemy – radical Islam led by Iran,” and alleged that Israel was protecting Europe from what he described as “the Iranian Axis.”

The visit took place despite an ICC arrest warrant issued in December 2024 for both Netanyahu and Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant on charges of genocide and crimes against humanity in Gaza.

Hungary, as a member state of the ICC, was legally obligated to arrest Netanyahu upon his arrival. However, on the first day of his visit, the Hungarian government announced it would withdraw from the Court, effectively shielding the Israeli leader from apprehension.
