Iran Rejects Dutch Allegations as Baseless
WANA (Apr 25) – The Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the Netherlands has strongly rejected the claims made in the Dutch National Security Agency’s annual report, describing accusations of Iran’s involvement in assassination attempts in Europe as unfounded.
“Iran itself is the biggest victim of terrorism and has a stronger commitment than any other country to combat terrorism in all its forms,” the statement read.
Earlier, the Dutch intelligence service published a report accusing Iran of involvement in two attempted assassinations in Europe. According to the report, two individuals were arrested in June 2024 on charges of attempting to assassinate an Iranian national residing in the Netherlands. Following these allegations, the Iranian ambassador was summoned to the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The Iranian embassy’s statement emphasized: “These baseless claims are nothing more than an attempt by certain individuals to play the victim and gain political leverage or status from the host government.”
It further added: “Unfortunately, many individuals and groups who have committed terrorist acts in Iran—and have either confessed to them or openly boasted about them—are active in Europe under the protection of Western governments and are often the source of such allegations.”
