WANA (May 07) – Esmail Baghaei, spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, responded to a question regarding a series of rumors circulating in the media about the state of Iran–U.S. negotiations. Among these was a claim that Masoud Pezeshkian, the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, would meet with Donald Trump, the former U.S. President, next week. Other rumors included dissatisfaction among negotiating parties with Oman’s mediation, and a proposal by Iran for direct talks. Baghaei dismissed all of these claims as unfounded and fabricated.

He stressed that the rumors published in the media about the Iran–U.S. negotiations are baseless and part of a fabricated narrative.

Baghaei, speaking on Wednesday in response to questions from the media, emphasized that all information regarding the activities of Iran’s diplomatic apparatus—including the issue of indirect Iran–U.S. talks—is communicated transparently, professionally, and in a timely manner by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
