WANA (May 13) – In a press briefing on Tuesday, Iranian government spokesperson Fatemeh Mojaherani addressed a range of domestic and international issues, responding firmly to recent comments made by U.S. President Donald Trump regarding the Persian Gulf.

“It Has Always Been the Persian Gulf”

Mojaherani dismissed Trump’s remarks as historically inaccurate, stating, “Our millennia-old history has shown that this has always been the Persian Gulf and it will remain the Persian Gulf forever. This gulf is Persian, and nothing else.”

Detained Iranian Citizens in the UK

Touching on recent reports of Iranian citizens being detained in the United Kingdom, Mojaherani said, “We are witnessing fabricated narratives emerging in the UK, but we categorically reject any allegations of interference. We are actively following up on the matter through diplomatic channels and are committed to resolving the issue via diplomatic processes.”

Hope for Lifting Internet Restrictions

When asked about the government’s stance on internet filtering, Mojaherani noted that the issue is under serious consideration. “As the Vice President has stated, the country’s policymaking bodies have reached a consensus on lifting internet restrictions. We hope that limitations in this area will be removed soon,” she added.
