Pezeshkian: Indirect U.S. Talks Aligned with Leader’s Guidance
WANA (May 13) – Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has reaffirmed that the country’s ongoing indirect negotiations with the United States are being conducted in full coordination with the Supreme Leader, emphasizing that the nation’s livelihood is not tied to the outcome of the talks.
In a meeting with members of the Independent Faction of the Iranian Parliament, Pezeshkian stressed that the leadership’s directives serve as the guiding principle for the negotiating team. “We have not and will not link the people’s lives and livelihoods to the negotiations,” he said. “We will never retreat from our principles, and at the same time, we are not seeking tension.”
The indirect negotiations, mediated by Oman, began on April 12 in Muscat. The second round took place in Rome on April 19, followed by a third round back in Muscat on April 26. The fourth and most recent round concluded on Sunday, May 11, once again in Oman’s capital.
Following the fourth session, Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi noted a significant shift in the tone and content of the discussions. “This round was far more serious and explicit than the previous three. We have moved away from generalities and are now addressing more specific issues,” he said.
