WANA (May 15) – Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian delivered a forceful speech today condemning U.S. President Donald Trump and criticizing ongoing Western policies toward Iran and the region. Speaking to a domestic audience, Pezeshkian dismissed American attempts to pressure Iran and reiterated Tehran’s commitment to regional peace and cooperation.

“Let Trump Dream On”

“Let Trump dream of highlighting our shortcomings,” Pezeshkian declared. “With the capable people I have by my side, we will solve all our problems.” The Iranian president accused Trump of believing he can threaten and sanction Iran while simultaneously adopting a human rights stance.

“All the unrest and crimes in the region stem from them,” Pezeshkian added. “Who else would dare martyr 60,000 people in Gaza and impose food and medicine blockades on them? They carry out such atrocities and then speak of human rights.”

Human Rights Double Standards

Pezeshkian strongly criticized what he described as Western hypocrisy. “When even a single person in Iran faces an issue — whether due to our fault or not — they cause an uproar, claiming Iran has violated human rights. I, too, believe no individual’s rights should be ignored. I’m not claiming we are without flaws,” he said, “but how can those perpetrating genocide speak of peace and human rights?”

He continued, “They boast of producing the best bombs and missiles — weapons designed for genocide. Then they sell those same missiles to countries in the region to ignite wars, because without war, they can’t sell arms. And yet, they label us as the threat.”

Emphasis on Regional Cooperation

Reaffirming Iran’s regional policy, Pezeshkian stated, “We are brothers, relatives, and kin with our neighbors. The enemies want us to fight each other, but we will not fall into that trap.”

He advocated for increased trade and economic engagement with neighboring countries, suggesting it could lead to stability and prosperity. “By boosting cross-border trade, we can create a large market that fosters peace and security.”

Pursuit of Peaceful Relations

Pezeshkian concluded by emphasizing Iran’s peaceful intentions: “We seek peace, not war. We desire peace and calm in our relations with our neighbors — Azerbaijan, Afghanistan, Iraq, Russia, Pakistan, and Saudi Arabia.”

Referring specifically to Saudi Arabia, he said, “Saudi Arabia is an Islamic nation,” he said, “but the United States is attempting to pit it against us.”
