WANA (May 24) – The IRGC declared that its comprehensive readiness in confronting adversaries is continually increasing. Alongside other branches of the armed forces, it stands ready with its finger on the trigger, prepared to deliver a decisive, surprising, and deeply regrettable response to any hostile act.

 

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has issued a statement commemorating May 24—the anniversary of the liberation of Khorramshahr during the Iran-Iraq War—calling it a symbol of divine will, the power of the Iranian people, and the unity of the armed forces in confronting the aggression of global arrogance and the deluded Ba’athist regime. The IRGC warned that this historic event remains a powerful lesson for today’s enemies, including the “Zionist regime”.

 

According to the IRGC’s statement, the victory in Khorramshahr was not merely a military triumph but a manifestation of a rising identity and national strength. It signified the triumph of the faith-driven Iranian people over Saddam Hussein’s war machine and its international and regional backers.

 

The statement attributed this victory to the people’s belief in God, the wise and courageous leadership of the late Imam Khomeini, popular mobilization, the bravery and strategic acumen of young, revolutionary commanders in the Army and the IRGC, and the support of the Jihad of Construction.

 

The IRGC further stated that naming the operation “Beit al-Muqaddas” (Jerusalem) reflected the vision of its martyr commanders, who saw the liberation of Khorramshahr as the gateway to the eventual liberation of Jerusalem. The statement emphasized that the youth of the regional Resistance Front are determined to fulfill this longstanding aspiration of the martyrs.

 

Until the holy city of al-Quds is freed, Palestinian youth and members of the Resistance Front will not relent in their struggle against the “Zionist regime”. Like the staff of Moses, they will part the sea once more and drown the “Zionist” forces in the waves of resistance from Muslim nations.

The statement described the anniversary of May 24, 1982, as a beacon lighting the path ahead and a symbol of belief in divine support for those fighting in the path of truth. Preserving the memory of this historic victory, the IRGC declared, will continue to reinforce and expand the discourse and front of resistance against the forces of evil—both for today’s generation and those to come.

 

It added that Iranian youth, inspired by the model of resistance set in this historical epic, can pursue victories in future “Khorramshahrs.” Just like the young commanders who liberated the city, today’s generation can defeat the enemy in the ongoing hybrid war by leveraging Iran’s internal strength and altering the enemy’s calculations.

 

The statement also stressed the importance of drawing lessons from the Sacred Defense era. It asserted that just as Iranian warriors made the impossible possible during Operation Beit al-Muqaddas—defeating the Ba’athist regime and its global and regional allies—Iran can overcome current challenges in the fields of economy, culture, and security through a revolutionary and jihadi spirit. This path, the IRGC argued, will lead the nation toward greater strength, prosperity, and honor in modern times.

 

Concluding the statement, the IRGC honored the memory of the martyrs of the eight-year Sacred Defense, especially those who sacrificed their lives during Operation Beit al-Muqaddas and the liberation of Khorramshahr. It reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to the ideals of the late Imam Khomeini and the martyrs of Iran, under the wise leadership of Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei.

 

Backed by unwavering popular support, the IRGC declared that its comprehensive readiness in confronting adversaries is continually increasing. Alongside other branches of the armed forces, it stands ready with its finger on the trigger, prepared to deliver a decisive, surprising, and deeply regrettable response to any hostile act.

 

This response, the statement emphasized, will not only punish delusional aggressors but also shift strategic power equations in favor of the Resistance and to the detriment of the “Great Satan” and its “Zionist” proxy in West Asia.
