WANA (August 13) – On Monday, the leaders of the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, and Italy issued a joint statement, announcing that they had discussed the “situation in the Middle East.”

In the statement, they expressed their “full support for ongoing efforts to de-escalate tensions, achieve a ceasefire, and reach an agreement for the release of hostages in Gaza.”

The leaders of these five Western countries emphasized that “there is no more time to lose” and stated that all parties must adhere to their responsibilities.

In a position against Iran, the U.S. and its allies declared, “We expressed our support for defending Israel against Iranian aggression and against attacks by terrorist groups backed by Iran.”

The statement, without condemning the terrorist actions of the Israeli regime, further added, “We called on Iran to abandon its ongoing threats of military action against Israel and discussed the serious consequences that such an attack could have if it were to occur.”

This anti-Iranian statement by the U.S. and its allies was issued amid concerns expressed by the Israeli regime about a possible Iranian response following the assassination of Ismail Haniyeh, the former political leader of Hamas, in Tehran.
