WANA (Nov 26) – During the 10th United Nations Alliance of Civilizations Global Forum held in Lisbon, Portugal, Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi made urgent calls for action. He insisted on the immediate implementation of the International Court of Justice’s measures to prevent the genocide of the Palestinian people and urged the prompt enforcement of the International Criminal Court’s arrest warrant for the Prime Minister of Israel.

Araghchi emphasized the deep-rooted culture of tolerance and coexistence in Iran’s history. “The Iranian nation, with its rich and enduring civilization, has always been a proponent of dialogue and interaction to promote peace and coexistence,” he stated. He described the forum as “an opportunity to reaffirm the importance of collaboration among nations and cultures.”

In his speech, Araghchi fiercely criticized the international community’s inaction during 14 months of ongoing atrocities committed by the Israeli regime. “The genocide and mass killings of Palestinians are a human tragedy, and the silence of international bodies is unacceptable,” he said.

He accused institutions such as the UN Security Council, the ICJ, and the ICC of failing in their fundamental duties. “The world is watching these crimes, and yet, the institutions meant to uphold international law have abandoned their responsibilities.”

Araghchi declared, “Peace and stability in the world are impossible without addressing the humanitarian disaster currently unfolding in West Asia.” He continued, “For decades, the Israeli regime has sought the eradication of the Palestinian people. The world must act immediately to halt this colonial and racist agenda.”

He also held the supporters of the Israeli regime accountable, saying, “The United States and others who continue to provide military and political support to Israel are complicit in its crimes and must be held responsible.”

He also condemned the Israeli regime’s manipulation of anti-Semitism. “For too long, the Israeli regime has misused the concept of ‘anti-Semitism’ to silence criticism of its aggressive and oppressive policies,” he said. “True peace in West Asia requires the end of occupation, apartheid, and the recognition of the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination.”

Concluding his remarks, Araghchi called for the full implementation of the International Court of Justice’s provisional measures to combat the genocide of the Palestinian people and the immediate execution of the International Criminal Court’s arrest warrant for the Prime Minister of the Israeli regime.

He stressed, “Without decisive and practical measures to hold the Israeli regime accountable and curb its lawlessness, the United Nations’ credibility and its noble values cannot be preserved.”
