WANA (Sep 17) – Iran’s Foreign Minister emphasized that “Establishing a ceasefire and stopping the Zionist regime’s crimes in Gaza will play an effective role in reducing tensions and bringing peace and stability to various parts of the region.”

During his visit to Tehran, UN Special Envoy for Yemen Hans Grundberg met with Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi. Araghchi highlighted the impact of Israeli actions in Gaza on regional tensions and suggested that a Gaza ceasefire could reduce the crisis.

He also expressed Iran’s support for a ceasefire endorsed by Palestinian resistance groups, including Hamas, while criticizing the continued support of the US and some European countries for Israel and the negative impact on the situation in Yemen.

Araghchi praised the UN’s efforts to establish peace in Yemen and stressed the importance of humanitarian aid to the Yemeni people.

In response, Grundberg congratulated Araghchi on his appointment as Foreign Minister and expressed his readiness to continue cooperation and consultations with Iran, especially in the context of the upcoming UN General Assembly in New York.

He also praised Iran’s commitment to regional stability, particularly in Yemen, and provided an update on the UN’s efforts to establish lasting peace in Yemen, reduce tensions in the Red Sea region, and facilitate prisoner exchanges. He called for Iran’s continued support for these UN efforts.
