Araghchi Criticized European Sanctions Against Iran in a Call with French Counterpart
WANA (Nov 20) – Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi strongly condemned the recent European sanctions against the Islamic Republic during a phone call with French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot. The conversation focused on the latest developments in nuclear negotiations and regional issues.
Araghchi criticized the “unjustified and provocative” actions by European countries, specifically Germany, France, and the UK, for their decision to propose a resolution at the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Board of Governors.
He labeled the move as a clear contradiction to the positive atmosphere emerging from Iran’s recent interactions with the IAEA, warning that such actions would only complicate the situation further.
On regional matters, Araghchi highlighted ongoing Israeli aggression against Lebanon and the continued genocide in Gaza, emphasizing the responsibility of the regime’s international supporters in perpetuating these atrocities.
He urged all stakeholders to take decisive action to pressure Israel to halt its aggression in Lebanon and Gaza. The call underscored the rising tensions in Iran-Europe relations amidst escalating geopolitical challenges.
