Araghchi: Foreign Policy Is No Place for Prejudgment
WANA (Nov 18) – In response to the rumor about a meeting between Iran’s representative at the United Nations and Elon Musk, one of the figures introduced in Trump’s cabinet, Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister emphasized that foreign policy is no place for prejudgment.
In a post on the X platform, Seyed Abbas Araghchi wrote: “The rumor about meeting Elon Musk demonstrated how cognitive biases can distort judgments. Some people, because they wished for this meeting to have happened, accepted it without any evidence, and even went so far as to confirm and analyze it.
Others, disregarding the decision-making process in the field of foreign policy in the country, hastily accused the government, assuming a mistake. Even after the Foreign Ministry denied the claim, some still express doubts! Foreign policy is no place for prejudgment.
Realism means making judgments based on evidence. When an event hasn’t occurred, regardless of whether we desire it or whether its occurrence would have been right or wrong, it simply hasn’t happened and must be denied. Remaining silent or ambiguous on a matter initiated by the other side is a rookie mistake and plays into their hands.”
