WANA (Oct 27) – Iran’s National Security and Foreign Policy Commission of Iran’s Parliament convened today, where Iran’s Foreign Minister highlighted the government’s stance on regional threats, specifically actions by Israel.

“Israel is seeking to expand conflict in the region,” stated the Foreign Minister, underscoring Iran’s commitment to defend itself against any attacks, while affirming that the nation is “not seeking war but will not shy away from it, remaining prepared for any confrontation.”

Ebrahim Rezaei, spokesperson for the National Security and Foreign Policy Commission, provided an overview of the meeting, noting that Foreign Minister Araghchi presented an in-depth report on recent regional developments, Israeli hostilities, and his recent diplomatic trips to neighboring countries aimed at strengthening regional alliances.

Araghchi reported on the recent “True Promise 2” operation, claiming significant damage to Israeli defenses, with “90 percent of the launched missiles hitting their targets,” though he noted that Israel has suppressed news of the impacts.

“Coordination between our military efforts and diplomacy is essential to counter Israel’s aggression,” Araghchi said, adding that his regional visits were intended to bolster political deterrence and fortify relations with allies. He emphasized the resilience of resistance forces, stating that “Hezbollah, deeply rooted among the people, is resilient and rebuilding despite recent setbacks.”

Rezaei further relayed the Foreign Minister’s remarks condemning recent Israeli attacks on Iran, asserting Iran’s right to retaliate “at the appropriate time.”

Additionally, Araghchi highlighted Iran’s membership in BRICS, recently solidified during the summit in Russia with President Raisi. He described BRICS as a vital counterbalance to Western hegemony, promoting multilateral cooperation and global reform.

“BRICS opposes unilateralism and seeks to establish a multipolar global system,” he explained, mentioning future plans such as the establishment of a BRICS development bank and a unified currency.

Rezaei concluded by noting key discussions among Commission members, which included advocating for robust diplomacy against U.S. and Western policies, the release of imprisoned Iranian diplomat Nouri in Iraq, a response to Israel’s recent aggression, and enhanced security initiatives for Iran’s eastern borders.

Additionally, members emphasized the need to transfer authority over the disputed Iranian islands from the Foreign Ministry to the Ministry of Interior to strengthen Iran’s territorial integrity.
