WANA (Sep 28) – Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi has strongly criticized the United Nations Security Council, blaming its inaction on the United States and other Western supporters of Israel for enabling the continuation of Israeli crimes and provocations.

In a statement posted on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), Araghchi said: “In a conversation with the UN Secretary-General, I emphasized that the Security Council’s failure to act against Israel’s actions, due to the obstruction of the U.S. and other Western backers, is the primary reason for the ongoing crimes of the Zionist regime.”

He further stressed that “the Secretary-General has a legal and moral responsibility to raise the voice of the international community against aggression and genocide and to use his authority under the UN Charter to mobilize global efforts for effective action against this regime’s aggressions.”

Araghchi also pointed out that “the U.S. is a direct accomplice in Israel’s crimes in Gaza and Lebanon,” referring to the assassination of a resistance commander who was targeted with a U.S.-supplied 5,000-pound bunker-busting bomb.

In conclusion, Araghchi reiterated that the Islamic Republic of Iran is determined to defend its security and vital interests, and to counter the hostile actions of the Israeli regime. He affirmed that Iran will continue to stand by Lebanon.
