WANA (Oct 20) – Iran’s Foreign Minister, Seyed Abbas Araghchi, has warned that any attack by Israel will be met with an appropriate response and emphasized that Iran has identified its targets in the occupied territories.

In an interview with a news outlet, Araghchi addressed the assassination of Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar, stating that “his martyrdom will not halt the movement’s activities but will instead strengthen its resolve and inspire Palestinian youth.” He further highlighted the risk of conflict spreading to several countries in the region, including Syria.

The Iranian foreign minister criticized Israel’s dependence on the United States, saying, “Israel cannot survive without U.S. support, nor can it commit crimes in Gaza and Lebanon without American weapons.” He added, “If the U.S. had the political will, they could stop these attacks and rein in Israel.”

Regarding the broader implications of a potential regional conflict, Araghchi warned that the United States could be drawn into a wider war in the region, which Tehran seeks to avoid. “For us, the U.S. is an ally of the Zionists, and in the event of a large-scale war, the U.S. will inevitably be involved. This is something we do not want.”

He also cautioned against the spillover of conflict into the Persian Gulf states but remained hopeful for a diplomatic solution, stressing, “There is still room for diplomacy. We cannot leave everything in the hands of one person in the Zionist regime.”

On the possibility of an Israeli strike against Iran, Araghchi reiterated that such an attack would cross a “red line” and would not go unanswered. “Any assault on Iran, particularly against its nuclear facilities, will be met with a proportional response. Israel will face a fitting retaliation for any aggression against Iran.”

Araghchi concluded by referencing Iran’s past military operations, noting that 90% of Iranian missiles struck their intended targets during Operation True Promise 2. “We did not target civilian or economic infrastructure, only military facilities. Now, we have identified all our targets there, and any future attack will be met with similar precision against their objectives.”
