WANA (Apr 17) – Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi announced on the social media platform X that he had a “useful discussion” with Rafael Grossi, Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

Araghchi expressed optimism about the IAEA’s potential role in the coming months. “The Agency can play a crucial role in the peaceful settlement of the Iranian nuclear file,” he stated.

In the post, Araghchi also warned of attempts to derail ongoing negotiations. “As a variety of spoilers are gathered to derail current negotiations, we need a Director General of Peace,” he wrote, emphasizing Iran’s hope that Grossi will remain committed to keeping the agency focused on its technical mandate and away from politicization.
