WANA (Feb 17) – Mohammad Abdulsalam, spokesperson and head of Yemen’s National Salvation Government negotiating team, met with Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi this morning in Muscat.

 

During the meeting, Araghchi commended the solidarity of the Yemeni government and people with Palestine, particularly highlighting their support for Palestinians in the face of the Israeli occupation and the 16-month-long genocide in Gaza.

 

He emphasized that this support played a key role in the victory of the Palestinian people and resistance movements, contributing to the imposition of a ceasefire on Israel.

 

Araghchi also reiterated Iran’s firm stance in supporting Yemen’s territorial integrity and national sovereignty, stressing that stability and security in Yemen are crucial to the security and sustainable development of the entire region.

 

Additionally, the Foreign Minister referenced the recent visit of the UN Secretary-General’s Special Envoy for Yemen to Tehran, describing continued dialogue and diplomatic efforts as beneficial and effective. He reaffirmed Iran’s ongoing support for the Yemeni government and people.

 

For his part, Abdulsalam expressed satisfaction with the imposition of the ceasefire on Israel, stating that Yemen is closely monitoring regional developments and the implementation of the ceasefire agreement.

 

He stressed that Yemen remains fully prepared to respond to any movements from the aggressors, with future actions depending on the commitment of the opposing side to fully implement the ceasefire.

 

Abdulsalam also provided a report on the latest field developments in Yemen, highlighting the national unity and solidarity among its people. He thanked Iran for its political and moral support for Yemen against enemy aggressions.

 

The two sides also discussed various regional and international issues of mutual concern during the meeting.
