WANA (Dec 01) – Seyed Abbas Araqchi, Iran’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, visited Damascus on Sunday night at the head of a diplomatic delegation and held talks with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad. During the meeting, Araqchi conveyed Iran’s message of support to the Syrian government and people, emphasizing the continuation of bilateral cooperation.

Highlighting the region’s sensitive conditions, Araqchi stated, “I had a productive meeting with President Assad. We discussed the details of Iran’s support and the current regional situation. Terrorist groups believe they have found an opportunity to operate, but they will be confronted.” He also praised Bashar al-Assad’s courage and resilience, reaffirming that “Iran’s principled stance remains supporting regional stability and security while countering terrorism.”

Araqchi conveyed the warm regards of Iran’s Supreme Leader and President to Bashar al-Assad, describing the movements of terrorist groups as part of “the enemies’ conspiracies.” He remarked, “The terrorists’ objectives align with the agendas of the U.S. and Israel, but just as Syria defeated terrorism in the past, it will succeed again this time.”

Bashar al-Assad expressed his gratitude for Iran’s unwavering support and regarded this visit as a clear signal of Iran’s commitment to Syria. He stated, “Eradicating terrorism requires joint efforts by regional countries, as the enemies act solely in favor of the Zionist regime.”

Taking place amidst the region’s heightened tensions, the meeting underscored Iran’s dedication to supporting the Resistance Front and enhancing collaboration to counter terrorist threats and foreign interventions.
