Armenia Applauds Iran’s Role in South Caucasus
WANA (Sep 11) – Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan, in a meeting with Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Mohammad Hassan Sheikh-ol-Eslami, expressed his willingness to meet with his Iranian counterpart and emphasized Iran’s positive role in developments in the South Caucasus.
The meeting took place on the sidelines of the inaugural “Yerevan Dialogue Forum” held in Armenia’s capital. Sheikh-ol-Eslami conveyed the warm greetings of Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi to the Armenian government and people. He reaffirmed Iran’s commitment to maintaining and expanding friendly and comprehensive relations with Armenia.
During a special session of the forum, Sheikh-ol-Eslami outlined Iran’s positions regarding the South Caucasus, underscoring strong opposition to any efforts aimed at altering international borders or destabilizing the region.
He also announced Iran’s readiness to enhance cooperation in academic, think-tank, and historical document exchange fields.
Mirzoyan, in turn, acknowledged the importance of Iran in Armenia’s foreign policy and expressed appreciation for Iran’s constructive role in the South Caucasus. He also affirmed Armenia’s willingness to strengthen collaborations in educational and think-tank sectors.
