WANA (July 30) – Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and his delegation met with Ayatollah Khamenei, the Supreme Leader of Iran, this morning. Prime Minister Pashinyan arrived in Tehran a few hours earlier via Mehrabad International Airport to attend the inauguration ceremony of President Masoud Pezeshkian.

 

In his meeting with Prime Minister Pashinyan, Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian described the relations between Iran and Armenia as ancient, historical, and friendly, based on good neighborliness. He emphasized that the development and strengthening of relations with neighboring countries is a priority in the foreign policy of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

 

He stated that with the determination of the high-ranking officials of both countries, efforts will be made to further strengthen and enhance the relations by utilizing all available capacities in the new term.

 

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan congratulated Dr. Pezeshkian on his election as President of Iran and described the relations between the Islamic Republic of Iran and Armenia as strategic and deep-rooted.

 

He expressed his country’s interest in further developing and strengthening these relations in various sectors, including expanding trade and economic exchanges within the framework of international trade development with the Islamic Republic of Iran.

 

He added that the numerous cooperation agreements between Iran and Armenia, especially in transport, transit, border terminals, and energy, are a testament to the very good relations between the two countries during the presidency of the late President Dr. Seyed Ebrahim Raisi. He affirmed Armenia’s desire to continue these strong and vigorous collaborations in the new term as well.
