WANA (July 16) – Shabak and the Israeli police announced that in the past two weeks, three people were arrested on charges of collaborating with Iranian intelligence agencies in exchange for money.

 

In a joint statement, the police and the internal security agency said: “Three Israeli citizens have been arrested on suspicion of engaging in activities within the internal security sector under the instructions of Iranian intelligence officers. One of these individuals is accused of having connections with a foreign intelligence agent.”

 

The main suspect, identified as 21-year-old Elimelech Stern from Beit Shemesh, is accused of contacting an Iranian agent through Telegram and recruiting two other Israelis to assist him in carrying out various tasks. It is reported that he collaborated with agents acting on behalf of Iran to post “anti-Israeli slogans” in Tel Aviv and undertake other actions.

 

According to Sputnik, the two accomplices were interrogated and released from detention pending a court decision.

 

The statement mentioned that these arrests took place over the past two weeks, while the operation to apprehend them had been ongoing for several months.
